Day 1: Kasol to Grahan Village


Trek Distance: 8 km | Duration: 4-5 hours | Altitude: 5,577 ft to 7,709 ft


The trek begins in the picturesque town of Kasol, following the true left of the Grahan Nallah. The initial trail is well-trodden and frequently used by locals. After an easy walk for a couple of hours, the trail becomes more challenging as it turns rocky, leading uphill through a beautiful rhododendron forest. The vibrant rhododendron petals can be eaten fresh or used to make a refreshing drink. After a final steep climb of about an hour, trekkers reach Grahan Village, the last settlement on the route. The village exudes a traditional Himachali charm, but note that there is no mobile network beyond this point. Overnight stay in a cozy homestay at Grahan.


Day 2: Grahan to Mung Thach


Trek Distance: 9 km | Duration: 5-6 hours | Altitude: 7,709 ft to 11,154 ft


After a peaceful night in Grahan, the trek resumes with a climb northward toward Mung Thach. The trail is commonly used by locals and offers glimpses of Mung Thach, Nagaru, and Sar Top on the mountain to the right. As the climb becomes steeper, the dense forest cover provides both shade and an enchanting setting. After a challenging yet rewarding ascent, trekkers arrive at the Mung Thach campsite. The location provides spectacular views of the Chandrakhani range and other prominent Himalayan peaks. Overnight stay at the scenic forest campsite in Mung Thach.


Day 3: Mung Thach to Nagaru


Trek Distance: 6 km | Duration: 6-7 hours | Altitude: 11,154 ft to 12,467 ft


Waking up to the fresh mountain air, trekkers prepare for a more challenging section of the trek. The route to Nagaru is steep and passes through snow-covered landscapes, making the trail slippery in some areas. The steep slopes descend into deep valleys below, requiring caution and steady footing. However, the reward is worth the effort, as Nagaru offers magnificent views of the Parvati Valley, with the town of Manikaran visible in the distance. After a long and strenuous climb, trekkers settle in for the night at the Nagaru campsite, experiencing the thrill of camping at high altitudes.


Day 4: Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass


Trek Distance: 14 km | Duration: 8-9 hours | Altitude: 12,467 ft to 13,779 ft


The most awaited and exciting day of the trek begins with an early morning ascent towards Sar Pass. The climb is steep and takes trekkers through snow-covered terrain, offering awe-inspiring views of the elevated peaks of the Tosh Valley. Reaching the top of Sar Pass is a moment of triumph, with the surrounding mountains creating an unforgettable panorama. After taking in the stunning scenery and capturing the moment with photographs, trekkers begin an exhilarating slide down the snowy slopes towards Biskeri. This thrilling descent can stretch up to a kilometer before the terrain becomes gentler. After crossing a few streams and walking through a scenic valley, trekkers arrive at the picturesque Biskeri Thach campsite for an overnight stay.


Day 5: Biskeri Thach to Kasol via Barshaini


Trek Distance: 9 km | Duration: 5-6 hours | Drive Distance: 15 km | Drive Duration: 1 hour


On the final day, trekkers wake up to a mesmerizing view of pine forests, lush grasslands, and towering Himalayan peaks. The descent from Biskeri Thach is steep initially, crossing dense forests and a mountain stream before reaching a campsite near the twin villages of Pulga and Tulga. A bridge over the Parvati River leads to Barshaini, from where a jeep ride takes trekkers back to Kasol. The Sar Pass trek concludes in Kasol, leaving trekkers with unforgettable memories of the breathtaking landscapes and thrilling experiences.
