Overview


The Bhrigu Lake Trek is a stunning high-altitude glacial lake trek near Manali, known for its breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped mountains. One of the few treks that remain accessible and safe during monsoons, it is an ideal short trek that can easily be combined with a visit to Manali. In just three days, trekkers reach an altitude of 14,100 ft, making it one of the best quick Himalayan adventures.

Day 1: Manali to Rola Kholi


Drive: Manali to Gulaba


Trek Distance: 6 km | Duration: 4 hours | Altitude Gain: From Manali to 12,500 ft

Trekkers report at Manali by 8:00 AM, from where they drive to Gulaba, the starting point of the trek. The trail begins with a steep ascent, followed by gradual ups and downs through dense oak and cedar forests. The lush green surroundings and fresh mountain air make for a refreshing start to the journey.


Upon reaching Rola Kholi campsite, a hot lunch is served. In the evening, trekkers take an acclimatization walk to adjust to the high altitude. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay in tents under the starry sky.


Day 2: Rola Kholi to Bhrigu Lake and back to Rola Kholi


Trek Distance: 10 km (round trip) | Duration: 6-7 hours | Altitude Gain: 12,500 ft to 14,100 ft


After an early morning breakfast, the trek to Bhrigu Lake begins. The trail passes through vast meadows, offering stunning views of the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. The final ascent is moderate but rewarding, leading to the serene Bhrigu Lake, which is believed to have been visited by the sage Bhrigu.


Trekkers spend quality time near the lake, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere and breathtaking views. After lunch, the descent back to Rola Kholi begins, with arrival at the campsite by evening.


The day concludes with evening snacks, dinner, and rest at the campsite.


Day 3: Rola Kholi to Gulaba | Drive to Manali


Trek Distance: 6 km | Duration: 3-4 hours | Altitude Loss: 12,500 ft to Gulaba


After breakfast, trekkers begin their descent to Gulaba. The trail is mostly downhill, making for a relaxed trek with scenic views. Upon reaching Gulaba, a vehicle will be waiting for the drive back to Manali, where the trek officially ends by evening.
